I am encountering a small bug when using ssh-keygen -l with known_hosts files. For lines that have comments, the hostname is not diplayed in the ssh-keygen -l output: servo:/tmp/cdtemp.mgJxDc 0$ cat known_hosts.nocomment example.server.net ssh-rsa AAAAB3NzaC1yc2EAAAADAQABAAABAQC0pZPJyb1TA+ykjXRO6VuieYxMNexgE1WEhvBHnOvPAI4u/N65BMp+QE9MO6m6gQdwcqy3d8jQM/FiJhuyk4RyBOCqyuPkQpHVsjQYn1qLbjhfgKnkqfW2ZtZOfyB9TuXt8maXTbHYELOYIQ06CcXyp4n6iZnhMtHC/+8zNgqOMOuSe2QuPMN9oDBZTdJhcWCfIPT9N4T0QlbZ3t2j75UhVd2qNhwDnb+LqWXbbToSd8c8npYgu7QKnazQY+I4IKv2cdfMhQfO/zTm0nlov471rScVf9hRiiWUypmOtH0yMiK7lPp7ppzuuDMlUOxSmMRxnd65rbXnEcEsceY5oXf9 servo:/tmp/cdtemp.mgJxDc 0$ ssh-keygen -l -f ./known_hosts.nocomment 2048 fb:6e:85:5c:1d:04:ea:74:11:c9:0b:8f:14:26:e1:e0 example.server.net (RSA) servo:/tmp/cdtemp.mgJxDc 0$ cat known_hosts.comment example.server.net ssh-rsa AAAAB3NzaC1yc2EAAAADAQABAAABAQC0pZPJyb1TA+ykjXRO6VuieYxMNexgE1WEhvBHnOvPAI4u/N65BMp+QE9MO6m6gQdwcqy3d8jQM/FiJhuyk4RyBOCqyuPkQpHVsjQYn1qLbjhfgKnkqfW2ZtZOfyB9TuXt8maXTbHYELOYIQ06CcXyp4n6iZnhMtHC/+8zNgqOMOuSe2QuPMN9oDBZTdJhcWCfIPT9N4T0QlbZ3t2j75UhVd2qNhwDnb+LqWXbbToSd8c8npYgu7QKnazQY+I4IKv2cdfMhQfO/zTm0nlov471rScVf9hRiiWUypmOtH0yMiK7lPp7ppzuuDMlUOxSmMRxnd65rbXnEcEsceY5oXf9 foo servo:/tmp/cdtemp.mgJxDc 0$ ssh-keygen -l -f ./known_hosts.comment 2048 fb:6e:85:5c:1d:04:ea:74:11:c9:0b:8f:14:26:e1:e0 foo (RSA) servo:/tmp/cdtemp.mgJxDc 0$ As you can see in the last command, the hostname is not present in the display, although the comment is. The monkeysphere program uses the comment field in known_hosts files, so this may present a problem for users of that program.
