Bug#511768: Bind9 cache bug

2009-01-14 Thread Petr Vokac

Package: bind9
Version: 1:9.5.0.dfsg.P2-?

ISC Bind 9.5.0 (all patch versions) has problem with caching DNS
records. This problem doesn't show immediately after start, but probably
after internal cache is full (max-cache-size) - so it can take
days/weeks before you can detect this problem and it causes random
SERVFAIL, so it is difficult to detect.

This bug was fixed in ISC Bind 9.5.1 and you can see this note in
CHANGES file:

2475. [bug] LRU cache cleanup under overmem condition could
purge

particular entries more aggresively. [RT #17628]
