Do you have more concrete data, such as a valgrind trace showing memory

After start gdm nautilus uses approximately 5mb RAM,
but after browse my files (jpg, ogg, odt, pdf, etc)
a few directories, nautilus use 30-40mb RAM sometimes anymore.
