Result of a short analysis: On every close of synaptic the parameter vpanedPos in ~/.synaptic/synaptic.conf is added by 2! Example: 1. start synaptic 2. open ~/.synaptic/synaptic.conf 3. vpanedPos has the value "635" 4. close synaptic 5. open ~/.synaptic/synaptic.conf 6. vpanedPos has the value "637" Hopefully you can find out which code part does that incrementation!?
