Bug#521650: me-tv will not start at all after the initial channel scan - and never after
Package: me-tv Version: 0.5.33-3 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable after the initial channel scan which works fine, me-tv will not start. selecting from the gnome menu does nothing after the initial scan (the channel scan runs only when a channels.conf file does not exist). usb tv dongle used works fine with VLC. running from a terminal returns the following: *** glibc detected *** me-tv: free(): invalid pointer: 0xb551 *** === Backtrace: = /lib/i686/cmov/libc.so.6[0xb72251e4] /lib/i686/cmov/libc.so.6(cfree+0x96)[0xb7227196] /lib/i686/cmov/libdl.so.2[0xb7509048] /lib/i686/cmov/libdl.so.2(dlopen+0x41)[0xb7508b21] /usr/lib/libGL.so.1[0xb54b2e49] === Memory map: 08048000-0809b000 r-xp 08:02 93142 /usr/bin/me-tv 0809b000-080ac000 rw-p 00052000 08:02 93142 /usr/bin/me-tv 080ac000-084f2000 rw-p 080ac000 00:00 0 [heap] b430-b4321000 rw-p b430 00:00 0 b4321000-b440 ---p b4321000 00:00 0 b44e1000-b51f9000 r-xp 08:02 472904 /usr/lib/libGLcore.so.180.29 b51f9000-b53eb000 rwxp 00d17000 08:02 472904 /usr/lib/libGLcore.so.180.29 b53eb000-b53f7000 rwxp b53eb000 00:00 0 b53f7000-b5478000 r-xp 08:02 475920 /usr/lib/libGLU.so.1.3.070004 b5478000-b5479000 rw-p 00081000 08:02 475920 /usr/lib/libGLU.so.1.3.070004 b5479000-b5506000 r-xp 08:02 472805 /usr/lib/libGL.so.180.29 b5506000-b5524000 rwxp 0008d000 08:02 472805 /usr/lib/libGL.so.180.29 b5524000-b5533000 rwxp b5524000 00:00 0 b5544000-b555b000 r-xp 08:02 542833 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_vo_out_opengl.so b555b000-b555c000 rw-p 00016000 08:02 542833 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_vo_out_opengl.so b555c000-b5597000 r-xp 08:02 139741 /lib/libncursesw.so.5.7 b5597000-b559a000 rw-p 0003b000 08:02 139741 /lib/libncursesw.so.5.7 b559a000-b55b6000 r-xp 08:02 478703 /usr/lib/libcaca.so.0.99.16 b55b6000-b563d000 rw-p 0001b000 08:02 478703 /usr/lib/libcaca.so.0.99.16 b563d000-b5642000 rw-p b563d000 00:00 0 b5644000-b5646000 rwxp 00:0c 821/dev/zero b5646000-b5647000 r-xp 08:02 505130 /usr/lib/tls/libnvidia-tls.so.180.29 b5647000-b5648000 rw-p 08:02 505130 /usr/lib/tls/libnvidia-tls.so.180.29 b5648000-b5649000 r-xp 08:02 542798 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_ao_out_none.so b5649000-b564a000 rw-p 08:02 542798 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_ao_out_none.so b564a000-b564e000 r-xp 08:02 542796 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_decode_sputext.so b564e000-b564f000 rw-p 3000 08:02 542796 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_decode_sputext.so b564f000-b5652000 r-xp 08:02 542791 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_dmx_flv.so b5652000-b5653000 rw-p 2000 08:02 542791 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_dmx_flv.so b5653000-b5662000 r-xp 08:02 138449 /lib/libbz2.so.1.0.4 b5662000-b5663000 rw-p f000 08:02 138449 /lib/libbz2.so.1.0.4 b5663000-b56af000 r-xp 08:02 476156 /usr/lib/libXt.so.6.0.0 b56af000-b56b2000 rw-p 0004c000 08:02 476156 /usr/lib/libXt.so.6.0.0 b56b2000-b56b3000 rw-p b56b2000 00:00 0 b56b3000-b56d1000 r-xp 08:02 476374 /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62.0.0 b56d1000-b56d2000 rw-p 0001e000 08:02 476374 /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62.0.0 b56d2000-b5725000 r-xp 08:02 477531 /usr/lib/libtiff.so.4.2.1 b5725000-b5727000 rw-p 00053000 08:02 477531 /usr/lib/libtiff.so.4.2.1 b5727000-b5757000 r-xp 08:02 477191 /usr/lib/liblcms.so.1.0.16 b5757000-b5758000 rw-p 0003 08:02 477191 /usr/lib/liblcms.so.1.0.16 b5758000-b575b000 rw-p b5758000 00:00 0 b575b000-b58f2000 r-xp 08:02 474834 /usr/lib/libMagick.so.10.0.9 b58f2000-b593b000 rw-p 00196000 08:02 474834 /usr/lib/libMagick.so.10.0.9 b593b000-b5952000 rw-p b593b000 00:00 0 b5952000-b5a15000 r-xp 08:02 474832 /usr/lib/libWand.so.10.0.9 b5a15000-b5a17000 rw-p 000c2000 08:02 474832 /usr/lib/libWand.so.10.0.9 b5a17000-b5a27000 r-xp 08:02 542843 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_vo_out_caca.so b5a27000-b5a28000 rw-p f000 08:02 542843 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_vo_out_caca.so b5a28000-b5a29000 r-xp 08:02 542787 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_decode_image.so b5a29000-b5a2a000 rw-p 1000 08:02 542787 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_decode_image.so b5a2a000-b5a2c000 r-xp 08:02 542824 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_dmx_fli.so b5a2c000-b5a2d000 rw-p 1000 08:02 542824 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_dmx_fli.so b5a2d000-b5a31000 r-xp 08:02 542758 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_dmx_mpeg_block.so b5a31000-b5a32000 rw-p 3000 08:02 542758 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_dmx_mpeg_block.so b5a32000-b5a33000 r-xp 08:02 542776 /usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.23/xineplug_ao_out_file.so b5a33000-b5a34000

What does the output from `me-tv -v` tell us? Thanks, Michael

If you can't be bothered then I can understand that. If you would like it fixed I'm willing to help, your call. I think that version had a ~/.me-tv/me-tv.config file where the settings are held. If you know XML then you can edit the file. Look for something like xine.video_driver. It might be set to something like xv, try xshm. Thanks, Michael

0.7.16 is dead-sexy in comparison and I understand why you would gravitate to it but now we have a grave bug that nobody has an environment to reproduce it in. We might have to change statuses until someone is prepared to test it. Thanks, Michael
Bug#521650: me-tv will not start at all after the initial channel scan - and never after
what i actually just did was change my repo to unstable. this brought in an upgraded me-tv package and deps as follows: Upgraded the following packages: me-tv (0.5.33-3) to 0.7.16-1 Installed the following packages: libgnome-vfsmm-2.6-1c2a (2.24.0-2) libgnomecanvasmm-2.6-1c2a (2.22.0-1) libgnomemm-2.6-1c2 (2.24.0-2) libgnomeuimm-2.6-1c2a (2.24.0-2) xine-ui (0.99.5+cvs20070914-2.1) the issue does not exist in v0.7.16-1 so i'm rather pleased. thanks Takis On Sun, 2009-03-29 at 21:11 +1100, Michael Lamothe wrote: If you can't be bothered then I can understand that. Bug#521650: me-tv will not start at all after the initial channel scan - and never after
fair point - blah... fine... i'll revert. i'll go back to 0.5.33-3 and remove the other deps it brought it. i'll then remove ~/.me-tv and start over. then i'll play with xine.video_driver value in the conf file. one more thing... the only video driver available under preferences is xshm. i noticed on 0.7 there were many others. something strange has happened. it works. i wonder if using the latest, uninstalling etc left some config settings floating around that sorted the issue. i did remove the ~/.me-tv dir before starting again. suggestions on what to clean out and try again - otherwise, wanna close it? thanks Takis On Sun, 2009-03-29 at 21:41 +1100, Michael Lamothe wrote: :) Cheers -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
