Apparently this is a known gtk+ bug:

Maybe that's the right way to concisely describe the issue: an 'Other'
 button isn't present...(see attached screenshot).

Perhaps I should check out another app (any suggestions?) which uses
the standard GTK+/GNOME folder selector to see if this is
 regexxer-specific?

How strange, I checked and it works here. Yes, please check another GTK
+ application. Sound Juicer has a folder selector in the preferences
dialog.

2009-04-23 Thread david thompson
In contrast to regexxer, the folder selector in the sound-juicer
preferences dialog seems to function as expected (pops up with the
'other' option). I'm not much of a GTK+ guy - any suggested next
steps?

Bug#525186: regexxer: folder selection broken w/kde 4.2

2009-04-22 Thread d thompson
Package: regexxer
Version: 0.9-2
Severity: important

Perhaps coincidental but I recently began using kde 4.2 now that it's
available for debian. Regexxer 0.9 folder selection seems to be broken.
The folder pull-down shows various folders but there no longer seems
to be a mechanism accessible for navigating to/selecting new folders
(folders other than those shown in the pulldown), limiting the usability
of regexxer.
