Does it still happen with gnome-settings-daemon 2.26 ?

Yes, it does. I've just tried with 2.26.1-2.

Bug#525686: gnome-applets: Media keys reset keyboard layout to the default

2009-04-26 Thread Javier Kohen
Package: gnome-applets
Version: 2.24.3.1-2+b1
Severity: normal

Pressing one of the media keys, such as XF86AudioPlay, XF86HomePage, etc.,
causes the keyboard layout to be switched back to the default.

E.g. my default is EEUU, and I also have Pol. I have enabled the option so
each window has its own layout. If I switch a window (say Firefox, or Emacs
GTK) to Pol, and press one of the media keys, the layout reverts to EEUU.
Pressing one of those keys while the layout is EEUU has no visible effect to
the layout.

The media keys still perform their expected function. QT and XLib programs
such as Skype and xterm show the same behavior.

I'm sending this report to the keyboard applet, because that's what shows me
the layout change. I wouldn't know what component is ultimately responsible
for this behavior, so please forward the bug to it, if necessary.
