That sounds like a good idea. (I'm a DM, not a DD, so my key is in
 the debian-maintainers package.)

Hi Trent,

This exchange was last May, almost a year ago. Are you still interested
in adding paredit.el to emacs-goodies-el? If you prefer to keep it in
the paredit-el package, that is fine too, but let's close the bug in
that case.

Thanks,
Peter

I looked at this a couple of times, but learning CVS (more than just
co and up) was too much hassle. I'd love paredit-el to be part of
emacs-goodies-el, since I think it'd be easier for users to discover
it -- but not enough to learn what, from my perspective, looks like an
 obsolete VCS. Sorry.

I didn't realise that CVS was an obstacle for you. I certainly
understand that, as I can't wrap my head around subversion and can just
barely use git. :-)

I would be happy to apply your patches for you, or (I suppose), even do
the steps for you. I would however prefer not to have to patch the
file. Could you do the following?

 - Run `M-x checkdoc' on it and fix the 49 things it mentions (mostly
   missing documentation).

 - Add the autoload cookie for paredit-mode. (I prefer building a
   loaddefs file than hard-wiring them.)

 - Instead of the HTML, provide documention in a form suitable for
   inclusion into the Info doc of emacs-goodies-el (I can do the markup;
I just need the text. It might simply be most of the commentary in
   the elisp file.)

If you can, I will add the file myself.

BTW, the mentors link:

http://mentors.debian.net/cgi-bin/sponsor-pkglist?action=details;package=paredit-el
doesn't lead to a file that I can download (anymore?) so I never saw
your latest version.

Thanks!
Peter

Upstream builds the HTML from elisp using elisp, so I'll have to patch
it to emit texinfo instead.

Yeah, I don't know what happened there. I lost that copy, too, but
the changes were only to debian/; I never touched the .el or .html
contents.

Upstream is still http://mumble.net/~campbell/emacs/; with
paredit-N.el being a release, paredit.el being the latest release, and
paredit/ being the VCS repo.

Hello Trent,

You may either prepare a patch for its inclusion by following directions
here:

https://alioth.debian.org/scm/viewvc.php/emacs-goodies-el/?root=pkg-goodies-el

Or, probably better, I can add you to the pkg-goodies-el list of
pkg-goodies-el developers on alioth and you can do it there.
