Bug#527126: nautilus: dbus error message when unmounting is a bit long

2009-05-07 Thread Alexandre Rossi
 Before this happens, could you please launch a pair dbus-monitor
 processes to monitor what nautilus could be asking on the session bus
 and the system bus? You should see there what message doesn’t get a
 reply.

Only signals an the system bus.

However, few method calls on the session bus. Here is the log attached.

Method call with serial 17 returns very late...

method call sender=:1.27 - dest=org.gtk.Private.HalVolumeMonitor
serial=17 path=/org/gtk/Private/RemoteVolumeMonitor;
interface=org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor; member=MountUnmount
   string 0x80baa28
   string
   uint32 0

Thanks,

Alex

Bug#527126: nautilus: dbus error message when unmounting is a bit long

2009-05-05 Thread Alexandre Rossi
Package: nautilus
Version: 2.26.2-3
Severity: minor

When unmounting a removable device (typically an USB key) after some large data
transfers, nautilus says it is impossible to remove the device with the
following error message:

  DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply.
  Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply,
  the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired,
  or the network connection was broken.

However, the notification asking to wait while the data is written to disk is
still here, and when the job is finished, unmounting succeeds and the
notification disappears.

The only thing left is that misleading error message saying that something went
wrong.

Feel free to ask for more info.

Alex
