Bug#531976: [Pkg-bluetooth-maintainers] Bug#531976: bluez: Occasionally the kernel freezes while connecting bluetooth mouse

2009-06-08 Thread Marcin Kucharczyk
Hello,

I have also the same problem with Logitech Bluetooth Mouse. When I try to use
hidd command from bluez-compat sometimes system freezes. I use kde and after
upgrade kdebluetooth doesn't work any more. Wich commands should I use to
connect bluetooth mouse using console?

Best regards,
Marcin Kucharczyk

 Hi,

Hi George,
thanks for your detailed report, though I'm downgrading it as I don't think this
affects every user of bluez.

I have a logitech bluetooth mouse which I connect using hidd --connect
 $MAC_ADDRESS.
Before I upgrade to bluez 4.40 in unstable, it had always been working fine.
Since I upgraded to bluez 4.40, I am experiencing strange behavior and
 occasional kernel freezes.

 My usage scenario is this:
First I turn on the mouse and then I run a script on a console, which runs
sudo hidd --connect $MAC_ADDRESS, to connect the mouse.
When I want to disconnect it, I simply turn off the mouse.

Does hidd come from bluez? It is not in bluez anymore but in bluez-compat as it
is deprecated.

Anyhow, you should be able to pair your mouse with e.g. gnome-bluetooth (via
bluetooth-applet) after that it is supposed to reconnect itself.

let me know if there are any problems,
filippo

If there is any better use for being famous and respected than using
that status to question orthodoxy, I haven't found it yet.

Yes, hidd comes from bluez-compat. Sorry for reporting to the wrong package. I
am used to doing this from console and I couldn't find any other tool similar
to hidd, so I installed bluez-compat. gnome-bluetooth is not the optimal
solution for me as I am a kde user and kde-bluetooth does not work for some
reason... Anyway, I will try doing this with gnome-bluetooth to see if this is
a specific issue with hidd and will let you know.
