Bug#558479: nvidia-kernel-source: Version 190.42-2 does not build against 2.6.32rc8 in Unstable
Hi Same issue here. I've managed to build this nvidia module nonetheless by creating manually the missing file module-common.lds, see [1] for the content it should have. Before that, I had to cheat a bit: I've found no linux-kbuild-2.6.32 yet, which is required by linux-headers-2.6.32-rc8-*. So I made one myself out of linux-kbuild-2.6.31 sources (and some nasty sed -i -e "s/2.6.31/2.6.32/g"): no surprise it isn't fulling working ;-) Have you done something similar, or does linux-kbuild-2.6.32 exists somewhere I didn't looked ? So anyway, I think this bug is more related with linux-kbuild-* package (or lack thereof) than with nvidia-kernel-source. Bug#558479: nvidia-kernel-source: Version 190.42-2 does not build against 2.6.32rc8 in Unstable
Package: nvidia-kernel-source Version: 190.42-3 Severity: important Justification: fails to build from source Hello, I upgraded my kernel to 2.6.32rc8 from unstable and I tried to build the latest nvidia driver against it. The build failed with the following problem: [snip] LD [M] /usr/src/modules/nvidia-kernel/nvidia.ko ld: cannot open linker script file /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-rc8-common/scripts/module-common.lds: No such / file or directory make[6]: *** [/usr/src/modules/nvidia-kernel/nvidia.ko] Error 1 make[5]: *** [modules] Error 2 make[4]: *** [sub-make] Error 2 make[3]: *** [all] Error 2 make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-rc8-amd64' make[2]: *** [modules] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/nvidia-kernel' make[1]: *** [binary-modules] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/nvidia-kernel' make: *** [kdist_build] Error 2 Maybe the bug is in the kernel-headers package, but I am not sure.
