Bug#559160: [Bug 1398] New: DHCP server stops

2009-12-28 Thread Philipp Hübner

Hi,

the new version pere provided (edu.2) looks good!

After 4 days, dhcpd is still running. Before, it never survived for more
than 24 hours with the 'dynamic' setting.

Bug#559160: [Bug 1398] New: DHCP server stops

2009-12-09 Thread Philipp Hübner
Hello,

I can confirm that using ldap-method static; instead of ldap-method
dynamic; in dhcpd.conf solves the problem. The dhcpd keeps running and
working as it should.

Bug#559160: [Bug 1398] New: DHCP server stops

2009-12-02 Thread Holger Levsen
package: dhcp3-server-ldap
version: 3.1.1-6+lenny3
severity: important

Hi,

Debian Edu now uses dhcp3-server-ldap and several people have reported that
the server dies after a few hours of usage. Unfortunatly there is nothing in
the logs indicating why. Do you have ideas about the cause or how to better
debug this?

I have that problem, too. Theres nothing in the logs, pid-file still
present, just the process has vanished.

I'm not actually hit by the problem, as I use the normal dhcp3 server only.

Can you check if using ldap-method static instead of dynamic, the
problem persists?
As you know, I'm using this in many schools since last year and have
never had this problem. I'm using the same configuration debian edu has,
except that I use static to connect to ldap. On the other hand, I don't
know why dynamic is being used in Debian edu, as it creates much more
traffic with the ldap server, and adding new machines to ldap is not
something I do everyday to need a dynamic connection to the ldap
server
