Bad news Mike, as of Version: 3.6.4~build2-1 one cannot even do that
anymore. We are not allowed to paste in the path to the file we want to
upload. No, we are only allowed to click and click and click to we get
to the file there in the directory tree. Never mind that we have the
very long filename ready there in the clip buffer.

That would be a problem with the gtk file selector, and that isn't even
reproducible. In other words, pasting works fine for me.

On some of my machines, iceweasel's File Upload screen lacks the
Location: entry filed. On others it is still there.

bummer you are right ...

aehm, can please *someone* do something against this brain-deadness?
I cannot believe that any human would agree in the fact that I *have*
to clicky-clicky through long hierarchies instead of typing the
text?

Are we loosing reasonability here?

Can please at least the Debian package revert this useless change?

Best wishes

OK, I have a partial workaround. You still get the popup File Upload
window, but In the upper left corner of the File Upload window, there
is a button showing pen and paper. Click it and the Location:
input box appears.

Bummer. Thanks for letting me know. I honestly be also one that
disagrees with that. Furthermore, point of clearing the input
field is unclear to me, too. How should that be done. I just tried
it myself. It is *NOT* possible to clear a file name entered
into that field.

I consider this defective behaviour, and I consider this a bug that
should be fixed.

But anyway, you wontfixed it, so I have to live with that pain (ita)

You are free to try to fight for your cause on bugzilla.mozilla.org, but
it'd imho be a Don Quichottesque fight.
