In principle it seems I could package this in /usr/bin (according to
Patrick). If you have time/motivation, the following would be helpful

- a list of the appropriate python packages that are dependencies of
  this script.

- Some kind of documentation explaining how to use it. Even a paragraph
or so that I can wrap a man page around would be great.

All the best,

David

AFAICT from the import lines mostly python-twisted-web, python-dbus and
python-gobject.

I was perusing http://syncevolution.org/development/http-server-howto to
get it going.

I'm afraid I lack the time and interest for more at this time. However,
just shipping the script as an example is fine as far as this report is
concerned.

Thanks,

Thanks for the report. I've added the script as an example to the
sync-ui package. It's not the obvious place to look, but also perhaps
not a good enough reason by itself to split off the dbus support into a
separate binary package. Perhaps if upstream decides to support
syncevo-http-server as a user script then I will do so.

Patrick, do you think it is reasonable to install syncevo-http-server
into /usr/bin and encourage people to use it?

All the best,

David

I think it is stable enough for that. The only reason for not making it
available in our own syncevolution.org packages was lack of
documentation and uncertain demand for it.

There's still no proper documentation, but the demand seems to exist.

I'm successfully using this script (from the upstream Git tree) for direct
synchronization between my N900 and my PowerBook via HTTP. Would be great if
it was included in the package, even if just as an example.
