This information is meant to be displayed at the top line of the Overview
tab.
However, I had a closer look at the source and it seems, that this information
might not be available on many (all?) systems, since powertop 1.97 only checks
in the deprecated /proc/acpi/battery/ directory for consumtion information.

I managed to patch powertop to use /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/, that should
be available on systems with modern kernels, so that I got proper consumtion
displayed on my thinkpad X201, but since that (dirty) patch might break
functionality on other notebooks (especially since different units seem to be
used across systems), it's not a global solution, hence not attaached :).

I propose to wait for upstream to fix this. In the meantime you can use
acpitool -B to get detailed battery status information.

Best regards

I'm not sure this is really fixed, since powertop 2 is not
reporting instant power consumption, I guess I need to perform a
 callibration first.

  Hello,

As Raúl said, I don't see any power measure in this new release of
powertop (lot of added information, but need some info to understand
how to use them). How / Where can you see the power consumption ?

By the way, I've found that the man page is missing.

So I'm sorry I'm unable to help (yet). I'll try with a callibration and I'll
come back.

ps: If there is no answer within 2 weeks, I'll close this bugreport as the
issue seems to be finally fixed in 1.97...

Thanks for your work on powertop 2.
