Bug#579709:

2012-08-22 Thread Damien Couroussé
Package: evince
Version: 2.32.0-1
Severity: normal

Hello,

I do also experience this bug.
But pdfcube also has the same displaying problems for me. xpdf handles
correctly this document.

Furthermore, I have noticed that this problem happens in documents that
include no name fonts.
For example for this document :

pdffonts CoplanarPts.pdf
name type emb sub uni object ID
 - --- --- --- -
[none] Type 3yes no no 4 0
Times-BoldItalic Type 1no no no 252 0
Times-Bold Type 1no no no 248 0
Times-Roman Type 1no no no 245 0
Times-Italic Type 1no no no 241 0
[none] Type 3yes no no 279 0
Symbol Type 1no no no 459 0
[none] Type 3yes no no 489 0
Courier Type 1no no no 662 0

I can reproduce the bug and the reported behaviour for pdfcube and xpdf with
other similar documents, e.g. :
http://www.capricorn.org/~akira/home/lockpick/mitlg-a4.pdf
found here :
http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-dist@lists.debian.org/msg1037414.html

$ pdffonts mitlg-a4.pdf
name type emb sub uni object ID
 - --- --- --- -
[none] Type 3yes no no 4 0
[none] Type 3yes no no 272 0

Hope it helps

thanks,
Damien

Hey, I'm also having problems displaying that file with Evince.

I'm using evince 3.4.0-2+b1 in a Debian wheezy system. xpdf works fine
with the same file.

Please send such a file, otherwise there’s no way we can reproduce the
bug.

Does the bug also happen with pdfcube or okular?

I have noted that my evince is not linked against libxcb-render nor libxcb-
render-util, attached is the ldd evince output.

So what?

I don't know, i haven't installed anything by hand. The system is
up-to-date installed from an official repository (deb
http://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/debian/). How can i test it. I've
tried re-installing evince, evince-common, poppler-utils, libpoppler5
and libpoppler-glib4 with no luck.
