 texexec test.tex

If it doesn't work, you can do texexec --pdf test.tex

  2. Could you send me the exact URL frtom Context Garden, which
describes how to use linear shade?

Please let me know if I can be of help.

Here's something which made it work for me:

Add metafun to the list of commands in shell_escape_commands in
/etc/texmf/texmf.cnf and then run the example. It should work.

Please confirm. If it works, please consider adding metafun in the
configuration file permanently.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, this version doesn't work either. The bug is not
solved. Just to be sure, dpkg -l context gives:

powerful TeX format

Thanks.

Bug#580447: Regression: LinearShade no longer works

2010-05-05 Thread Kumar Appaiah
Package: context
Version: 2009.11.26-2
Severity: normal

Hi!

I use ConTeXt to make my presentations. With the latest upgrade, I am
unable to use linear shades, a concept I borrowed from the ConTeXt
Garden Wiki.

Rather than describe the situation, I attach the sample file I use
(test.tex). test.log is the output when I run it with the latest
ConTeXt, while test_old_context.log is the output when run with
Debian ConTeXt 2008.05.21-1 on a Lenny machine.

The expected output is:
http://people.debian.org/~akumar/dump/test_expected.pdf (made with
Debian ConTeXt 2008.05.21-1)

The output I get with the latest ConTeXt is:
http://people.debian.org/~akumar/dump/test_actual.pdf

I think you can spot the problem here; if I comment out the
\setupbackgrounds line, the outputs look identical.

Please let me know if the error is on my side, and if I need to make
some changes at my end. I believe I've done the read the changelog
drill, but I am unable to figure out where the error could me.

Thanks for any advice. I'll be glad to give you further inputs if you
want.

Thanks.

Kumar
