Bug#588552: evolution-alarm-notify does not start automaticly anymore
Well, I'm using latest debian unstable evolution package, 2.30.3-1, though I don't use gnome, just plain fluxbox, and I still don't get evolution-alarm-notify loaded when starting evolution. Given that I have enabled show reminder, and the alarms on Personal and Birthdays..., I would expect the process to be launched automatically. But that's not happening... -- Javier. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Nevermind, I miss the part about fluxbox. /etc/xdg/autostart/evolution-alarm-notify.desktop has: OnlyShowIn=GNOME;XFCE; so it won't start on other DE. If you remove that line, does it work? (in fact it'd be better to add it to your .local/etc/xdg/autostart). Note that I'm not sure fluxbox has anything to autostart XDG stuff though. BTW, by starting evolution-alarm-notify manually after evolution has been loaded, it seems to launch the alarms on time, as far as I know... -- Javier. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Fwiw, under Xfce xfce4-session runs the autostart programs, under GNOME I guess it's gnome-session and something similar should exist for KDE. Not sure about LXDE (lxsession) and other environments. Your best chance is to configure your system to start it automatically. Cheers, -- Yves-Alexis signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

OK, so evolution-alarm-notify can no longer be launched from evolution itself... Sad, :-( Any ways, good to know. Do you think it's best to start evolution-alarm-notify before evolution, or after? Sad, :-( I'm not sure the bug isn't valid, I'll check with upstream. Imho, the autostart is present so alarm can ring even when evolution is not running. But launching it when evolution starts still makes sense. I'll report back if the move is intended or not. Any ways, good to know. Do you think it's best to start evolution-alarm-notify before evolution, or after? I think it doesn't matter, but as it's done in autostart, you'll be safe adding it to .xsessionrc or something like that. Bug#588552: evolution-alarm-notify does not start automaticly anymore
Package: evolution Version: 2.30.1.2-3 Severity: normal Hi! After I upgrade my evolution to: 2.30.1.2 I get no longer any POP-UP windows, when I have a meeting in my calendar. In past with old evolution, I got on each meeting a POP-UP which reminds me. The problem is that I must start evolution-alarm-notify manually, to get POP-UPs. So why evolution-alarm-notify does not start automaticly anymore? Sorry, for this maybe dummy report. But if you need any more informations to help me, I will give that informations as soon and best as I can.
