*shamefaced* Yes. Removed old ufraw from /usr/local/bin and everything
working fine. Apologies for the noise.

Thank you Alexander and Adam for your efforts.

Iain.

Bug#591366: ufraw depends on libexiv2-4

2010-08-02 Thread Iain Mac Donald
Package: ufraw
Version: 0.16-3+b1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Recently upgraded my Squeeze installation and ufraw stopped working.

Opening a raw file from terminal gave this output:

ufraw: error while loading shared libraries: libexiv2.so.4: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory

However, libexiv2-4 only exists in Lenny (although installing the package from
Lenny enabled ufraw to work again).

Regards,
Iain.

Please could you provide the output of ldd /usr/bin/ufraw ?

I've just extracted the copy of ufraw_0.16-3+b1_i386.deb from the archive
and:

$ ldd usr/bin/ufraw 2/dev/null|grep exiv
libexiv2.so.9 = not found

(the machine I tested on doesn't have exiv installed, hence not finding
the library).

Adam

Bug#591366: ufraw depends on libexiv2-4

2010-08-02 Thread Alexander Kurtz
Hmmm, on my system ufraw works fine... probably because it doesn't link
against libexiv2.so.4 but against libexiv2.so.9:

 $ ldd /usr/bin/ufraw | grep exiv
libexiv2.so.9 = /usr/lib/libexiv2.so.9 (0x7f9ba2d17000)

This seems to match the packages dependencies[1]. Looking at [2] I just
saw that the only ufraw version currently in squeeze which is depending
on libexiv2-4 is the m68k version (that arch isn't supported anymore
AFAIK).

So could you make sure that you haven't accidentally missed some
updates? Or are you using m68k? ;-)
I'm asking this because your kernel version suggests that your system
isn't up to date.

If that doesn't help, please provide the output of these commands:

 dpkg -l ufraw

 ldd /usr/bin/ufraw

 apt-cache showpkg ufraw

Please also mention if you're using any third-party repositories (your
sources.list would be helpful in that case).

Best regards

Alexander Kurtz

Thanks.

I'm now a little confused as the output contains

 libexiv2.so.9 = /usr/lib/libexiv2.so.9 (0xb75a9000)

which is what I'd expect; i.e. your ufraw binary is correctly linked
against libexiv2-9. You don't have a ufraw binary in ~/bin or
/usr/local/bin by any chance?

Regards,

Adam
