This seems to be working fine again since a week or so.

Bug#591483: NM does not work with dun-connections after update.

2014-02-04 Thread Alberto Garcia
I'm not sure if all these problems have the same root cause, but I'm
also unable to use my Nokia N900 as a bluetooth modem after a recent
upgrade (it used to work around october 2013 or so). It works fine if
I do it via USB, there's a "Mobile Broadband" entry in the NM dialog
which I can use to set up the connection.

If I go to the bluetooth settings dialog, choose my phone and click on
"Access the internet using your mobile phone (DUN)" it tries to detect
the phone configuration, but after a while it gives up with "Error:
timed out detecting phone details".

I have the following packages installed:

   mobile-broadband-provider-info  20130915-1
   network-manager  0.9.8.0-5
   network-manager-gnome0.9.8.4-1
   modemmanager   0.5.2.0-2.1
   bluez  4.101-4
   gnome-bluetooth3.8.1-2

I can however make it work without network manager like this:

# rfcomm connect rfcomm0
Connected /dev/rfcomm0 to XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX on channel 1
Press CTRL-C for hangup

and then launch wvdial or gnome-ppp.

I upgrade ppp to 2.4.5-4. But gnome-bluetooth or
blueman not allow connection. But I think it's problem with
modemmanager, because I can set up dialup connection with my
bluetooth-device in console with pppd.

Yes, I'm trying to do it. At the end of the wizard, a get message:
"Error: expired detect phone" (sorry for bad translation, I have russian

Could you please upgrade ppp to >= 2.4.5 and test if that fixes your
problem.

No, it's not supported.

Whitesquall: Please stop blueman, remove the device in gnome-bluetooth and
setup a new device. At the end of the wizard, it will ask you whether you
want to share your internet connection. See
  http://mail.gnome.org/archives/networkmanager-list/2010-May/msg00041.html
for further information. You need to install mobile-broadband-provider-info,
otherwise the wizard will just hang.

Michael: I guess you can close this bug, or reuse it by reassigning it
to gnome-bluetooth, as it's missing a mobile-broadband-provider-info
dependency (otherwise, I'm opening a new one there)

Bug#591483: NM does not work with dun-connections after update

2010-08-08 Thread Achim Weber
Hi

I can confirm this problem.
Since upgrade to network-manager 0.8.0.999-1 it is no more possible to connect
a Modem (in my case Nokia E72) via bluetooth/Blueman. In Blueman the modem
seems to be connected but it doesn't show up in the NM-Applet to dial.

Network-manager ignores the modem:

With NM 0.8 this was working.

What informations/logs are needed to track this down?

I don't know how can I see previous version in testing repository, but
the problem appeared after the last update network-manager and
network-manager-gnome.

> I don't know if blueman is officially supported. Have you tried to setup a DUN

No, gnome-bluetooth only allows me to transfer files with my bluetooth
device.

When I connected with bluetooth device in blueman:

$ ls -l /dev/rfc*
crw-rw 1 root dialout 216, 0 Авг  3 18:41 /dev/rfcomm0

$ id
uid=1000(whitesquall) gid=1000(whitesquall)
groups=1000(whitesquall),6(disk),20(dialout),24(cdrom),25(floppy),27(sudo),29(audio),30(dip),44(video),46(plugdev),100(users),104(scanner),112(netdev),113(bluetooth),116(fuse),118(powerdev)

But network-manager don't want to work with rfcomm0. I try reconfigure
my dun connections, but it doesn't yield results.

PS: Sorry for my bad English.

Update from which version?

I don't know if blueman is officially supported. Have you tried to setup a DUN
connection with gnome-bluetooth/nm-applet?

After updating, dun-connections does not appear on the context menu of
