Furthermore, listing drm is not necessary (update-initramfs will include it automatically), and intel_agp is not even part of Debian. Finally, modeset=1 is no longer necessary, as KMS is now the default on Debian for both Intel and ATI Radeon (see packages xserver-xorg-video-intel, xserver-xorg-video-radeon). I therefore propose to reword this part. Proposed text: ---snip---- plymouth 0.7 only works if KMS (kernel mode setting) is enabled at boot time. KMS is (as of August 2010) supported only for Intel and ATI graphics cards. It needs at least kernel version 2.6.29 for Intel and 2.6.32 for ATI Radeon cards (2.6.34 for the R800). To enable KMS at boot time, put the following lines into /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and don't forget to update your initrd by running 'update-initramfs -u' as root afterwards. For Intel cards / builtin graphics: # KMS i915 For ATI Radeon: # KMS radeon Note: You will need the latest versions of packages xserver-xorg-video-intel (Intel cards) or xserver-xorg-video-radeon (ATI Radeon cards) installed for this to work.
