Bug#598537: smartmontools: Use UUID instead /dev/sdX

2011-11-13 Thread Christian Franke
Using /dev/disk/by-id/... as a device name should work for non-RAID
volumes since 5.41 r3269.

Bug#598537: smartmontools: Use UUID instead /dev/sdX

2010-09-29 Thread Pol Hallen
Package: smartmontools
Version: 5.39.1+svn3124-1
Severity: normal

Howdy :-)
Using a raid system, could be to replace a disk (or disks) and the assign of
/dev/sdX will change.
So I'm have to change manually the device name in /etc/smartd.conf.

Why I can't use UUID of devices instead /dev/sdX?
Can you add this option?
thanks

Pol
