Bug#612689: gparted does not run on KDE

Please fix the menu item for gparted so it works by default. It seems to work fine for me. I installed task-kde-desktop and logged in with the kde plasma desktop, opened gparted from the menu, got prompted for the root password, and it fired right up. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJQDHGHAAoJEJrBOlT6nu75EsYIAN05tAFU7DgQj4QpEq+cOxxc wXv6E7pgchVIMjd5wWMJm0wTeAVJy4PCj2ycFUYriTvbCSPdQ3p//ZyUtLy3SbQl BWA+HP0RKWDwen+3xUO6vektfLFXAVZ6+QjBYZcalqfRsIxxxCRSaOm5e374NEYx rgoADLaJSk/DKi9KsagmqNlTLascFeiQuo2EVb8XJWGyCTO2AiYEXzmvZm6RNn6Q iR9/8/i69M45p4TX9HQGx77pDn2wpo1HJLZbbvVqFX0GxrwvcdiNUe3rQcL5heuC vVDdnn0m0RmnvxXOlcCZY+VwxqHY6N4kad7uL5poZHh1IoD5I2aM0X0mKyQt2Fo= =8dlf -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#612689: gparted does not run on KDE
Version: 0.12.1-1 I can confirm this problem also exists on Debian Wheezy in KDE 4.8.4.. When I select gparted from the KDE menu, the busy cursor appears but gparted fails to start. When I go into the menu editor, find gparted, and select run as different user, save, and then try running it again... KDE then prompts for the root password and runs gparted properly... Please fix the menu item for gparted so it works by default.
Bug#612689: gparted does not run on KDE
Package: gparted Version: 0.7.0-1 Severity: normal Tags: squeeze Gparted does not depend on kdesudo. As a result if a user tries to run it on a KDE system gparted will not work. Running it with kdesudo resolves the problem but is not suggested by the package. Installing gksu on a KDE system has no meaning. IMO gparted should depend on gksu or kdesudo (if nothing else is broken) Best Regards Nick Niktaris -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=el_GR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=el_GR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages gparted depends on: ii libc6 2.11.2-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.4.5-10 GCC support library ii libglib2.0-0 2.24.2-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libglibmm-2.4-1c2a2.24.2-1 C++ wrapper for the GLib toolkit ( ii libgtk2.0-0 2.20.1-2 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libgtkmm-2.4-1c2a 1:2.20.3-1 C++ wrappers for GTK+ (shared libr ii libpangomm-1.4-1 2.26.2-1 C++ Wrapper for pango (shared libr ii libparted0debian1 2.3-5 The GNU Parted disk partitioning s ii libsigc++-2.0-0c2a2.2.4.2-1 type-safe Signal Framework for C++ ii libstdc++64.4.5-10 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 Versions of packages gparted recommends: ii gksu 2.0.2-5graphical frontend to su Versions of packages gparted suggests: pn dmraid none (no description available) ii dmsetup 2:1.02.48-5 The Linux Kernel Device Mapper use ii dosfstools 3.0.9-1 utilities for making and checking ii jfsutils 1.1.12-2.1 utilities for managing the JFS fil pn kpartx none (no description available) ii ntfsprogs2.0.0-1+b1 tools for doing neat things in NTF pn reiser4progs none (no description available) pn reiserfsprogsnone (no description available) ii xfsprogs 3.1.4 Utilities for managing the XFS fil ii yelp 2.30.1+webkit-1 Help browser for GNOME -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
