Indeed, I noticed after the upload. However my original version doesn't 
segfault,
so I'll have to diff this version with mine, and fix it. I'll do that soon.

You know about the player which uses libao, and that one works fine?

'modplugplay' throws a segfault immediately after launch.  There is a
brief moment when the music can be heard to begin playing just before the
program aborts.

Running 'modplugplay' from inside gdb, I get the following:
