Hi Ross. Thanks for the reply.

I've found the problem: this box has an ATI video board, but my
previous Linux box had an nvidia board, and some of the nvidia libraries
were still hanging around. Don't know why, since I rebuilt this box
completely and only copied user data (AFAIK). And it had been running
fine since December until now, so why it suddenly died is a mystery.

Anyway, geeqie works now, so you can probably close this bug. Sorry
for annoying you.

Thanks,

 .ROn

Hi Ron,

Can you try this with "export CLUTTER_DISABLE_ARGB_VISUAL=1" please?

Thanks,

Programs using clutter have recently started to fail. geeqie, for
example:

> (geeqie:9963): Clutter-CRITICAL **: Unable to initialize Clutter:

> Can't initialize clutter-gtk.

This also happens with gnibbles (although that program then goes on to
fail more spectacularly). Haven't tried any others.

glxgears works fine.

geeqie was working fine as recently as a week ago. I run aptitude
updates almost every day, so I presume the problem began after one of
those.

glxinfo output and xdpyinfo output attached.
