Weird, could you please check with 'netstat -lp' that there is
no other instance of freepops (or another process) running a binding the
same address?

Hi,

this is not the case since I tried using different addresses and ports by 
typing for example:

freepopsd -b 127.0.0.1 -p 2001

but the error is the same.
