Sure I can. Here I am, open for your questions.

As you may have noticed, Sébastien Villemot joined my efforts to
maintain the Gnucash package in Debian. But, given the high bug count, I
would welcome some more volunteers in the team.

To get familiar with the package you may want to work on the open bug
reports. A lot of old bugs are still hanging around in the BTS, some of
them without being triaged yet. So, if you want to, you can start right
away to dig into the open bugs and see how to get rid of them. I guess
there are plenty of them that have been reported long time ago, and that
are likely fixed meanwhile. But this needs to be triaged first. Just add
a comment to a bug if you have any new information.

If you have any further questions regarding the packaging details or how
to proceed with a certain issue, just drop me or Sébastien a line and we
will see how we can help you to join our efforts.

I am looking forward to jointly improve Gnucash in Debian.

Best regards,
Micha

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the gnucash package in Debian.

The package description is:
Gnucash can track finances in multiple accounts, keeping running
and reconciled balances. It has an X based graphical user interface,
double entry, a hierarchy of accounts, expense accounts (categories),
and can import Quicken QIF files and OFX files.

Reason:
Due to some real life changes I don't need to do any financial
accounting anymore at a level that is offered by Gnucash. This means
that I am no longer an active user of Gnucash, which made me feel
more and more annoyed to maintain Gnucash, which is a pity.

State of the package:
Since I took over responsibility for Gnucash back in 2009, I worked
hard to get the packaging in a maintainable state by leveraging the
power of Debhelper using 'dh' style debian/rules file. Next I started
to get the number of bugs down. A lot of old bugs are still hanging
around in the BTS, some of them without being triaged yet. At least
I managed to stop the rising trend of the bug count, but with yet
73 open bugs there is still some work ahead...

Upstream state:
In the recent years the upstream developers released several new
versions, all with substantial bug fixes and other improvements that
prove that the project healthy and alive. It has always been a
pleasure to communicate with them. Bugfixes have always been welcome.

If you are interested in adopting maintenance for the gnucash package,
please drop me a line. I will then happily help you to get familiar with
the package and to get in touch with the friendly upstream developers. I
will stay around for a while and will help where needed, but I
definitely intend to hand the maintenance of the gnucash package over to
someone else.

Best Regards,
Micha
