It's worse than this. exo-preferred-applications has almost no options whatsoever. I now find that PDFs are opened by Inkscape! I have tried setting .local/share/applications/mimeapps.list, but that doesn't help. I've tried creating /usr/share/applications/defaults.list, to no avail. So how can I change the preference order - ideally in a way which I can explain to a non-techie?
