To be nitpicking, the fusiondirectory fix is only working for hostnames, but not for dns names. It just removes the underscore from the list of valid characters, but at the time of checking the provided string may be a complete DNS name. And underscores are in fact allowed for domain names (RFC 1034, Preferred name syntax). Thats why 2.6 initially allowed the underscore.
