You're right, I enabled the install scripts and left out the control
field.

For the record, this means you _can_ use AUCTeX with emacs-snapshot, but
the packaging system will prevent you from removing/not installing
emacs23.

Fixed in my personal tree, will be closed by next upload.

Good, I will add emacs-snapshot again with my next upload.

This is a simple email to add myself to that list as well (an happy
AUCTeX user with emacs-snapshot without any problem as far as I
remember).

Davide, thank you for having re-added emacs-snapshot support.

BTW, if you did not modify the package scripts you are using AUCTeX

RL This is a complex situation. I guess it is not fully correct to

I also believe it to be bearable this way.

SJ According to popcon, there are still ~300 users of emacs-snapshot (most

At any rate, I have not seen any bugs in your auctex package when used
with emacs-snapshot (I did not test extensively, though). If bugs are
found, this would actually be a Good Thing (TM), because the fixes can be
forwarded upstream. The emacs-snapshot package will eventually become the
next official version of Emacs.

Thanks for taking care of AUCTeX in Debian.

RL least on emacs23 | emacsen?

Hi Rafael,

- about depending on emacsen: see #63513; briefly, the Debian auctex
package is for GNU Emacs only, XEmacs already ships its own AUCTeX
  (see Description, also);

- about supporting emacs-snapshot: see #657761, with which I'm merging
your report; briefly, the Debian auctex package used to support
emacs-snapshot while emacs-snapshot was in Debian, but this is no more
  the case.

However, if people consider it important, I could easily add
emacs-snapshot again; at the moment, I count Brendan Halpin and you.
BTW, if you did not modify the package scripts you are using AUCTeX
without byte-compilation: of course it works, but it's slower (hint:

RL There is a huge amount of packages doing this in Debian:

Thanks, I know, of course! :-)
