Bug#665190: wireshark: Wireshark hangs when clicking on any button in interfaces selection box

2012-03-22 Thread mediaf
Package: wireshark
Version: 1.0.2-3+lenny16
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After starting Wireshark, I click on menu Capture / Interfaces
In this box, whatever button Iclick for any interface, Options, Start or even
Close, it makes Wireshark hang,
and there's nothing to do to get back the hand on it.
The only way to close Wireshark is to kill it.
This bug was already reported as #664844, but it has been closed as Fixed while
it is obviously not fixed.

Bug#665190: wireshark: Wireshark hangs when clicking on any button in interfaces selection box

2012-03-22 Thread Bálint Réczey
fixed 665190 1.0.6-1
thanks

Hi mediaf,

First, if you don't agree with a bug's resolution please respond in
the bug itself and don't open a new one.

2012/3/22, mediaf t...@mediaforest.net:
 Package: wireshark
 Version: 1.0.2-3+lenny16
 Severity: grave
 Justification: renders package unusable
Actually the package is still usable, the interface can be selected
from the command line.

After starting Wireshark, I click on menu Capture / Interfaces
In this box, whatever button Iclick for any interface, Options, Start or
even Close, it makes Wireshark hang,
and there's nothing to do to get back the hand on it.
The only way to close Wireshark is to kill it.
This bug was already reported as #664844, but it has been closed as Fixed
while it is obviously not fixed.
The bug is fixed in wireshark 1.0.6-1. The version you reported the
bug against is 1.0.2-3+lenny16.

It seems that you use oldstable and stable package repositories mixed.
Please upgrade to stable to get the latest, fixed wireshark package.

Bug#665190: wireshark: Wireshark hangs when clicking on any button in interfaces selection box

2012-03-22 Thread tech

Hello

First, if you don't agree with a bug's resolution please respond in
the bug itself and don't open a new one.
As the first bug reported was in the wireshark/1.0.2-3+lenny14 version
and the new one in 1.0.2-3+lenny16 I thought it was useful to report a
new bug

Actually the package is still usable, the interface can be selected
from the command line.
As I never could go further than the dialog box, I never realized that
it was only the interface choice which was buggy. Thank you very much
for this info : I have a big problem in my network and I wasn't able
to diagnose it as wireshark was always hanging. Now I can investigate.

I can't upgrade my debian fully to stable because I use and I want to
keep on using KDE 3, in the squeeze release, only kde 4.x is available.

Thank you very much for your answer and for the workaround you gave me
to use Wireshark.
