Bug#665190: wireshark: Wireshark hangs when clicking on any button in interfaces selection box
Package: wireshark Version: 1.0.2-3+lenny16 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable After starting Wireshark, I click on menu Capture / Interfaces In this box, whatever button Iclick for any interface, Options, Start or even Close, it makes Wireshark hang, and there's nothing to do to get back the hand on it. The only way to close Wireshark is to kill it. This bug was already reported as #664844, but it has been closed as Fixed while it is obviously not fixed. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers oldstable-proposed-updates APT policy: (500, 'oldstable-proposed-updates'), (500, 'oldstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.utf8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to fr_FR.utf8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages wireshark depends on: ii libadns11.4-2Asynchronous-capable DNS client li ii libatk1.0-0 1.30.0-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.7-18lenny7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo2 1.8.8-2~bpo50+1 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libcomerr2 1.41.12-2common error description library ii libgcrypt11 1.4.5-2 LGPL Crypto library - runtime libr ii libglib2.0-02.24.2-1~bpo50+1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnutls26 2.8.6-1 the GNU TLS library - runtime libr ii libgtk2.0-0 2.18.6-1~bpo50+1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libkrb531.6.dfsg.4~beta1-5lenny7 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries ii libpango1.0-0 1.20.5-6 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libpcap0.8 1.1.1-2 system interface for user-level pa ii libpcre38.02-1.1 Perl 5 Compatible Regular Expressi ii libportaudio2 19+svn20071022-3.2 Portable audio I/O - shared librar ii wireshark-commo 1.0.2-3+lenny16 network traffic analyser (common f ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 compression library - runtime Versions of packages wireshark recommends: ii gksu 2.0.0-8graphical frontend to su wireshark suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. fixed 665190 1.0.6-1 thanks Hi mediaf, First, if you don't agree with a bug's resolution please respond in the bug itself and don't open a new one. 2012/3/22, mediaf t...@mediaforest.net: Package: wireshark Version: 1.0.2-3+lenny16 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Actually the package is still usable, the interface can be selected from the command line. Bug#665190: wireshark: Wireshark hangs when clicking on any button in interfaces selection box
Hello First, if you don't agree with a bug's resolution please respond in the bug itself and don't open a new one. As the first bug reported was in the wireshark/1.0.2-3+lenny14 version and the new one in 1.0.2-3+lenny16 I thought it was useful to report a new bug Actually the package is still usable, the interface can be selected from the command line. As I never could go further than the dialog box, I never realized that it was only the interface choice which was buggy. Thank you very much for this info : I have a big problem in my network and I wasn't able to diagnose it as wireshark was always hanging. Now I can investigate. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers oldstable-proposed-updates ^^ APT policy: (500, 'oldstable-proposed-updates'), (500, 'oldstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) It seems that you use oldstable and stable package repositories mixed. Please upgrade to stable to get the latest, fixed wireshark package. I can't upgrade my debian fully to stable because I use and I want to keep on using KDE 3, in the squeeze release, only kde 4.x is available. Thank you very much for your answer and for the workaround you gave me to use Wireshark. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
