Bug#668473: PING: Bug#668473: Error during installation of openclipart-svg
retitle 668473 java error when registering libreoffice-writer2xhtml tag 668473 +unreproducible thanks Dear Rene, I've been reading through this bug during the Berlin BSP, and I wonder if the RC severity (lowered from 'critical' to 'serious' by you, but still RC) is actually justified or should be lowered to e.g. 'normal', comparable to #470397 (writer2latex: w2l fails with gij when no absolute path specified). According to your analysis, upgrades work fine in the general case, and this particular problem - if reproducible at all - may be related to either old versions of the package, a funny combination of packages on a partly upgraded system, or issues with gcj as the java5-runtime. I tried to see if I can reproduce the problem when using gcj-jre as the java5-runtime, but failed to encounter any issue. In sum, I don't think this is a bug that merits blocking the release. Hi, On Thu, Apr 12, 2012 at 09:21:09AM +0200, Rene Engelhard wrote: openclipart-svg doesn't contain anything which triggers this trigger. So whatever you upgrade in the same dist-upgrade does, but not openclipart. But as you obviously didn't put any of the important info reportbg would have put there (distrto uses, versions of dependencies) here it will just be guesswork. What I assume right now is that you use wheezy with sid in sources.list. openclipart-libreoffice (I assume that if you installed openclipart-svg you might also have installed that one) 2.0-2 is for LO 3.5 and isn't co-installable with 3.4 (but is already in testing because the testing scripts let that do...), so conflicts against libreoffice-common 3.4 and apt tries to upgrade -common alone. Which isn't bad per se if there wasn't a path change and incompatibilities. -common can't depends on a newer -core, though. - boom. The stuff unopkg needs doesn't work anymore. But that needs to be verified with information *from yopu* of course. Regards, Rene -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? severity 668473 serious tag 668473 + moreinfo reassign 668473 libreoffice-writer2xhtml thanks Hi, On Thu, Apr 12, 2012 at 09:21:09AM +0200, Rene Engelhard wrote: Here it registers lireoffice-writer2xhtml. (That's of course with a consistent 3.5.x in sid) So it's not a libreoffice-writer2xhtml bug either (it might be able to be *workarounded* there, though)... I am reassigning this anyway, as it's so obviously not a openclipart-svg bug that it's totally wrong leaving it here... Dear Rene, thank you a lot, I'm understanding what you are saying. I'm expecting to get access to the machine where the culprit lives in a couple of days - I'll report here once again with more information. For now: I've been upgrading to the current libreoffice in testing (Version 1:3.4.6-2). Bug#668473: Error during installation of openclipart-svg
Package: libreoffice-writer2xhtml Version: 1.0.2-7 Severity: serious Dear Maintainer(s), dear Rene: I've got access to the relevant system earlier than expected. Here is the reportbug report. As soon as libreoffice 3.5.x enters testing, I'll try it out and report here. Thank you, Jaakov. * What led up to the situation? Update of libreoffice. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Running aptitude, selecting a bunch of upgradable packages (what exactly can be seen below), asking to upgrade them. * What was the outcome of this action? In the console, errors during installation are observed (see the relevant portion of the attached file /var/log/apt/term.log). * What outcome did you expect instead? No errors during installation. *** Downloads/term.log Log started: 2012-04-11 23:39:37 (Reading database ... I actually don't believe that you installed *all* upgradable packages (or you had a interesting mix before so that -common etc are not needed to be upgaded. So it doesn't even make sense to try and debootstrap a snapshot and try a upgrade (and fwiw, 3.4.6-2 is in testing since 2 weeks...) I am actually not sure this is *ever* reproducable unless we know the exact state before. Versions of packages libreoffice-writer2xhtml depends on: ii gcj-4.6-jre [java5-runtime] 4.6.3-1 ii gcj-jre [java5-runtime] 4:4.6.2-4 And gcj is unreliable... See e.g. http://bugs.debian.org/470397. It might just also be that writer2latex doesn't work with gcj. Regards, Rene -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
