I just upgraded to current unstable and found that something had
automatically installed tracker. This has rendered my system largely
unusable for normal usage - there is constant disk I/O and
'tracker-store' features heavily in top, probably exacerbated by the
fact that I have encrypted disks.
I attempted to mitigate against this by running tracker-preferences on
the command line (I don't see any obvious way to start it from the UI)
and selected "Limitations->Only when computer is not being used" but
this appears to have had no effect on the system performance.
I'd strongly suggest making "Only when computer is not being used" the
default, and it appears that the implementation of this option is not
entirely successful.
I've set this to severity important both because tracker appears to have
become a default part of the standard install and the overall effect on
the system is atrocious, especially if any other task that the user is
trying to accomplish is itself I/O bound.
