Bug#670822: aptitude dist-upgrade -d goes into infinite loop

2012-04-29 Thread Marc Haber
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.6-1+b1
Severity: normal

Hi,

$ sudo aptitude dist-upgrade -d
The following packages will be upgraded:
  kbd libnewt0.52 whiptail
The following packages are RECOMMENDED but will NOT be installed:
  libfribidi0
3 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 0 B/565 kB of archives. After unpacking 674 kB will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n/?] y

After entering y, aptitude goes into an infinete loop and never
returns. I have once let it run for three hours, but it didn't get
back to me.

An strace of a shorter run is available in private e-mail on request.

Greetings
Marc

Hello

This is already reported with fix pending.

Does the patch against #629266 not work for you?
