Bug#675094: debian-installer: wheezy installer: you can bypass errors with Previous button
FYI, I've bumped into this issue while trying to install debian-6.0.6-i386-netinst.iso on an Asus EeePC 701 -- which means this is affecting debian stable (in fact, the latest, thus recommended stable form of Debian installation). I've still didn't try any other ISO to get around this issue, so if you want me to try a certain release or other, just send me an e-mail. The Debian installer must block the installation process if you have a grave error (if you cannot install the base system you must not be able to start the apt installation, the system installation,...), but if you ask to configure the apt system you can bypass this block and go ahead with installation process. So to reproduce this bug: 1) start the installation and go ahead to the base system installation error 2) select to install the apt-system and go ahead to the error message: the base system is not installed 3) press the previous/back button (sorry I don't know the English label) now the Debian installer start to install the apt system, then you can also start installing all the Debian system... Package: debian-installer Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I try to install Wheezy on a new machine, I downloaded the debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso [1] build at 29-May-2012 17:31 During the base system installation I get an error on installing busybox (I don't know if there is a problem on the CD or CD-drive or there is a problem on .iso image building fase, I have only one rw CD and I have only try to do a remastering of it without new results). I have try more time to do the installation but I have always the same error. I have try to pass to next step: configure the apt system, but without the base system you cannot do that... or better you can do that if you push the Previous button when you get the message like this You must install the base system before to proceed, so if you push the Previous button at that point the apt system configuration start and you can also go to download the system from the net... until something go in error (because the base system is not installed completely). Finally I have download the Squeeze net CD, and installed testing starting from stable.
