Bug#675710: colord-sane write errors in syslog when USB disk is switch on
I've made complementary tests. With the HP PSC 1610 printer (printer, scanner and SD card reader) switched off when I insert a USB key or switch on a USB disk colord write no messages and with cups and colord and colord-sane running. On a PC wich is not connect to the scanner/printer there are no messages when a USB disk is connected and with colord-sane running. I think with these observations that your explanation is not complete, it does not answer why there are messages only if my printer/scanner is connected and switched on. This appears to be colord-sane identifying the presence of a new USB device and trying to probe to see if it's a USB scanner. colord-sane deliberately doesn't have permission to do this for arbitrary USB devices, just things that we identify as scanners. This (should be) is harmless, but it could be silenced. Probably by only attempting to probe devices udev knows to be scanners. -- Francois Mescam Tel:+33 6 16 05 77 61 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
