 I tried it 10 times now (inbetween changing between
 File-Exit to closing the window using the windows X) and it didn't crash
 for me.

It's been a long time since I last experienced this issue.
My currently installed version of libreoffice-impress is 1:4.1.5-2+b1

This bug report may be probably closed as fixed, if you agree.

Thanks for your time.
Bye.

Sure? See below.

 I am encountering serious difficulties in using loimpress.

serious? Ah, let's look below.

 It seems to segfaults often.
 [...]
   Libreoffice segfaults when exiting: /var/log/kern.log says
   soffice.bin[2456]: segfault at 0 ip 7f80674629d7 sp 7fffb61cbba0
 error 4 in libvcllo.so[7f80672a+7e5000]

Ah. Segfault only when exiting. That's a) not often, and b) you want to close
anyway..

 I managed to reproduce the segfault again and again (by just
 loimpress test.odp and then Exit, as above), but not always,
 which is problematic, I know... :-(

Yes, it is. And I tried it 10 times now (inbetween changing between
File-Exit to closing the window using the windows X) and it didn't crash
for me.

 Moreover, the saved test.odp and test.pptx files seem to be detected
 as damaged files by Microsoft Office 2010.

Which is a total different bug and that pptx isn't good in 3.5.x is
known. (that applies to basically any OOXML thing.). And well, that M$
doesn't care about open formats and thus doesn't properly import ODF...

I think this is normal. And this is - sorry - unreproducible. For
the rest, see my other post...

Regards,

Rene

Bug#681133: libreoffice-impress: segfaults at exit, leaving pending recoveries

2012-07-10 Thread Francesco Poli (wintermute)
Package: libreoffice-impress
Version: 1:3.5.4-5
Severity: important

Hello,
thanks for maintaining LibreOffice in Debian.

I am encountering serious difficulties in using loimpress.
It seems to segfaults often.

Minimal test case to reproduce this bug:

  $ loimpress

  With a few clicks and keystrokes, prepare the attached minimal
  presentation (test.odp).

  Save it also as test.ppt and test.pptx

  Exit from LibreOffice

  $ ls -a
  .  ..  test.odp  test.ppt  test.pptx

  $ loimpress test.odp

  Exit

  Libreoffice segfaults when exiting: /var/log/kern.log says
  soffice.bin[2456]: segfault at 0 ip 7f80674629d7 sp 7fffb61cbba0
error 4 in libvcllo.so[7f80672a+7e5000]

  $ ls -a
  .  ..  .~lock.test.odp#  test.odp  test.ppt  test.pptx

  $ loimpress test.odp

  LibreOffice offers me to recover the document: if I accept, the recovery
  finishes successfully and the presentation is opened.

  Exit

  $ ls -a
  .  ..  test.odp  test.ppt  test.pptx

I managed to reproduce the segfault again and again (by just
loimpress test.odp and then Exit, as above), but not always,
which is problematic, I know... :-(

Moreover, the saved test.odp and test.pptx files seem to be detected
as damaged files by Microsoft Office 2010.
