Bug#682654: sysvinit-utils: startpar doesn't terminate

2013-02-22 Thread Jörg-Volker Peetz
Dear Roger,

when I reported this problem I was using upstart instead of the sysvinit
package. Meanwhile, I have changed back to sysvinit (using debian only on
laptops with few services) and dismissed upstart. Now the boot problems with a
hanging startpar are gone.
I recommend to close this bug. Anyhow, it may have been attributed to the
upstart package, I reckon.

Best regards,
Jörg-Volker.

Package: sysvinit-utils
Version: 2.88dsf-32

Dear Maintainer,

with this version 2.88dsf-32 my problem of a not terminating startpar process
seems to be solved. That is, for my part this bug report can be closed.
Thank you very much for your work.

Best regards,

Bug#682654: sysvinit-utils: startpar doesn't terminate

2012-07-24 Thread Jörg-Volker Peetz
Package: sysvinit-utils
Version: 2.88dsf-29
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

booting with this package version installed, the system doesn't reach
the login prompt on the first console terminal and some important
services like ssh are not started.
Logging in on the second console it shows that startpar is still running
(exactly: startpar -p 4 -t 20 -T 3 -M start -P N -R 2)
and has to be killed by root.

Further information can be delivered, but I don't know how to proceed.
I tried it by hand as root, commanding

$ /etc/init.d/rc 2

which also doesn't terminate. Replacing /sbin/startpar by the one of
the package version 2.88dsf-22.1, this command does terminate.
I attach the file /etc/init.d/.depend.start.
