Bug#685310: aptitude: Apt::AutoRemove::SuggestsImportant defaults to true

2012-08-19 Thread Andrew Pimlott
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.8-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I have a package intalled that is not depended upon by any other
intalled package, or recommended, but is suggested by another installed
package (specifically, libterm-readline-gnu-perl). If I run

aptitude markauto libterm-readline-gnu-perl

it is not proposed for removal. The manual says this should be guided
by Apt::AutoRemove::SuggestsImportant, which defaults to false.
However, this does not seem to be the case, because if I run

aptitude -o Apt::AutoRemove::SuggestsImportant=false markauto
libterm-readline-gnu-perl

it proposes to remove the package. I checked to make sure that my
~/.aptitude/config (pasted here) does not have any relevant options:

aptitude ;
aptitude::UI ;
aptitude::UI::New-Package-Commands true;
aptitude::UI::Package-Header-Format %N %n #%B %u %o;

By the way, typos: the manual incorrectly refers to

hyphens).

Looks like this was changed in apt 0.8.15.3. Our docs will be updated, thanks.

 By the way, typos: the manual incorrectly refers to
 Apt::AutoRemove::Suggests-Important and
 Apt::AutoRemove::Recommends-Important in a few places (note the
 hyphens).

So they are. While checking on that I also picked up a couple of
misdirected links.
