Hello thanks for the report!

all experimental additions to be 1 (not 500) eg:
  500 http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ experimental/main Translation-en

Just for clarification: The number in front of Translation-* entries is always
500 as no pin can sensibly match it, but that is not a problem as pinning has
no effect for Translations at all as there is no need to. Translations are
associated to the versions they belong to so an experimental Translation
can't escalated itself up to be shown for a stable package.
(Exception: stable and experimental contain the same package (version),
which therefore has the same Description and also the same Translation)

I would be in favor of hiding them from the output as they serve no real
propose other than might be confusing users, but somehow I fear there is
some usecase for it I am unaware of ( https://xkcd.com/1172/ ).

Any other ideas or should we just bite the bullet?

Best regards

Bug#701147: apt: add experimental - 500 priority on the translation part

2013-02-22 Thread bofh80
Hi David, thanks for the update.
All sounds good then, i was just worried about packages from experimental
sneaking in, if that isn't the case, and some use cases for keeping it in
displayed in priority, maybe just editing the
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianExperimental to display that information
might be enough?
either way, since it's of no consequence, i'm quite happy with whatever
solution you employ to close the bug.
thanks again
anthony.
