Hello,

 $ dpkg-query --show libfprint0

 $ sudo -k

 Could not locate any suitable fingerprints matched with available hardware.

I cloned upstream git repository[1] and built it then replaced
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfprint.so.0.0.0 with
libfprint/.libs/libfprint.so.0.0.0 manually, and got the following
debug print:

$ sudo -k

Actually the driver ID for UPEKE2 was modified from 1 to 13 (= 0x0d)
at commit ea6d5ba[2]. I rewrote the UPEKE2_ID to 1 and built the
library, it works again. So, I regenerated my fingerprint data with
fprintd-enroll (pam_fprint_enroll did not work for me), then copy
/var/lib/fprint/nov/000d// to
~/.fprint/prints/000d//. Now, everything is all right!

Indeed, your log confirms that. Can you try to install libfprint 0.5.0-4 from
Debian snapshots [0] ?

[0] http://snapshot.debian.org/package/libfprint/1%3A0.5.0-4/

I have backported an upstream patch [1] to the -5 revision, which might
conflict with your device, so confirming that it works with libfprint 0.5.0-4
would confirm that this patch is at fault.

Thanks in advance, cheers,

OdyX

I tried as follow:

$ sudo dpkg -i /var/tmp/download/libfprint0_0.5.0-4_amd64.deb
Scan right middle finger on UPEK Eikon 2
(Reading database ... 243668 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace libfprint0:amd64 1:0.4.0-4-gdfff16f-4 (using
.../libfprint0_0.5.0-4_amd64.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement libfprint0:amd64 ...
Setting up libfprint0:amd64 (1:0.5.0-4) ...
Processing triggers for libc-bin ...
ldconfig deferred processing now taking place
$ dpkg-query --show libfprint0
libfprint0:amd641:0.5.0-4
$ sudo -k
$ sudo id
Could not locate any suitable fingerprints matched with available hardware.
[sudo] password for nov:
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root)

Hmm, it was the same result with 1:0.5.0-5.

Thanks,

Hello,

From: Didier 'OdyX' Raboud odyx_at_debian.org
Date: Tue, 28 May 2013 09:47:34 +0200

 What happens if you try to reboot between your attempts ?

Cold booted in both cases:

$ uptime
 21:33:18 up 3 min, 1 user, load average: 1.36, 1.38, 0.60
$ dpkg-query --show libfprint0
libfprint0:amd641:0.5.0-4
$ sudo -k
$ sudo id
Could not locate any suitable fingerprints matched with available hardware.
[sudo] password for nov:
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root)

$ uptime
 21:41:17 up 3 min, 1 user, load average: 1.10, 1.36, 0.63
$ dpkg-query --show libfprint0
libfprint0:amd641:0.5.0-5
$ sudo -k
$ sudo id
Could not locate any suitable fingerprints matched with available hardware.
[sudo] password for nov:
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) groups=0(root)

Actually gdm3 shows a same message (Could not locate any ...) on its
login dialog first.

Thanks,
