I have just rebooted after attempting various other ways of shutting down.
In particular, I killed the X session (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace) and then when it restarted tried to shutdown.
When I cancelled the first dialog box another one appeared with the exact same thing on it.
Having now shutdown completely, temporarily rebooted into Debian Wheezy, and then rebooted back into Sid, I am getting this double dialog box all the time.
