we don't do either: Neither we suggest to use a link for conf-available
files, nor do we document this use case in our policy.

In fact, we even transitioned from conf.d to conf-available so that
maintainers can unconditionally install files to conf-available without
fearing to activate it automatically which might not be what the site
owner desires.

2013-07-08 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: glpi
Version: 0.83.91-3
Severity: important
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on
the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8 (or 10.8):

http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails

Filing this as important as having a piuparts clean archive is a release
goal since lenny.

0m50.6s ERROR: WARN: Broken symlinks:
  /etc/apache2/conf-available/glpi.conf -> /etc/glpi/apache.conf

0m52.3s ERROR: FAIL: Package purging left files on system:
  /etc/apache2/conf-available/glpi.conf -> /etc/glpi/apache.conf not
owned

Cc:ed the apache2 maintainers, as this might be a bug in their packaging
helpers or instructions, too.

cheers,

Andreas
