Hi,

_JITSI_LIBAV_ is always defined when building the debian package. In
upstream we use ffmpeg.
The problem you see is because of the update of libav package to
version 0.9... This will be fixed while fixing bug#719517.
Currently looking at it.

Me too, On my Debian Sid  AMD64 jitsi crashes when i goto the options video. 
Same message :
warning: The VAD has been replaced by a hack pending a complete rewrite
/usr/bin/java: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/jni/libjnffmpeg.so: undefined 
symbol: ff_make_format_list.
