Okay, not sure I understand, but I won't doubt it.

How easy would it be to add a git annex refresh, which would
basically just refresh all currently applied views in their order?
That's like a bunch of vpops followed by a bunch of views and
filters, except that the actual arguments to the view and filter
commands are obtained from the status quo and need not be specified?

Bug#743820: Views should update on syncs

2014-04-06 Thread martin f krafft
Package: git-annex
Version: 5.20140405
Severity: wishlist

One way I would like to use git-annex is managing a photo
collection, tagging those photos ready for release e.g. gallery.
On the gallery server, there then would reside a (possibly direct)
clone of the repo with a tag-select view applied.

Unfortunately, when someone adds a new file with the gallery tag
and syncs with a central repo, it seems like the only way to get the
repo on the gallery server to include the file is to vpop-sync-view.

It would be really cool, however, if running a sync inside a view
would automatically bring the view up to the latest state, if things
have changed outsideā€¦
