I also confirm that xetex compilation is very fast again. Thanks. Simon -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#750785: texlive-binaries: latex/xetex processing extremely slow after update
On Mon, 09 Jun 2014, Simon Pepping wrote: > \documentclass{article} > \usepackage{fontspec}% font selecting commands Indeed, seems to be that it is fontspec .. * only fontspec -> slow * only xunicode -> fast * only xltxtra (this indirectly loads fontspec) -> slow Ok, we now know that it has to do with fonts loading... Bug#750785: texlive-binaries: latex/xetex processing extremely slow after update
Compilation is slow even with only this header: \documentclass{article} \usepackage{fontspec}% font selecting commands \usepackage{xunicode}% unicode character macros \usepackage{xltxtra} % a few fixes and extras \usepackage{wasysym} but commenting out the lines which call fontspec, xunicode and xltxtra makes compilation fast. Commenting out only one or two of them makes no difference. One processor core is used at 100%. Memory usage is stable; running xetex uses only a bit of extra memory (0.6 GiB). I tried it with the latex-ified version of the bug report's test file, and did *not* see a slow down.
