Bug#754603: gnuplot-qt does not provide gnuplot-nox, but package description says otherwise

2014-07-13 Thread Anton Gladky
Hi Josef, thanks for bugreport.

I think we should fix the documentation, that is true.
I do not really see any reason, why gitstats depends on
gnuplot-nox, not gnuplot itself. gnuplot-nox is the minimal
version of gnuplot, so it should not be any problems to use
-x11 or -qt.

Please ask gistats maintainer to change dependency.

Thanks

Anton

 Package: gnuplot-qt
 Version: 4.6.5-6
 Severity: important

 Dear Maintainer,

I cannot upgrade to gnuplot-qt 4.6.5-7 (from 4.6.5-6) because gitstats
 depends
on gnuplot-nox, but gnuplot-qt is in conflict with it and does not provide it.
However, package description says it does provide it:

The package provides gnuplot-x11 and gnuplot-nox terminals plus an additional
QT-terminal for output (not default one).

There is nothing in dependencies wich would implement this paragraph of
 description.

Bug#754603: gnuplot-qt does not provide gnuplot-nox, but package description says otherwise

2014-07-13 Thread Josef Kufner
Hi Anton,
gitstats is not the only package. There are few more depending on
gnuplot-nox: boinc-cgi-stripchart, gitstats, gnuplot-mode,
libchart-gnuplot-perl, polygraph, probcons-extra. I don't know these
tools, but I guess there will be the same dependency problem as with
gitstats.

Could you please add 'Provides: gnuplot-nox' to make life a bit easier
until other packages are updated?

I can file bugreports for these 5 packages, but before I do that, how
exactly should other packages which require non-interactive mode to
render few plots depend on gnuplot packages? (I will link this bug from
other bug reports.)

Thank you!

Josef Kufner
