Package: htop
Version: 1.0.3-1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
with the new _apt user in apt 1.1~exp3 (in Debian Experimental), I
wanted to see what it does and started htop -u _apt.
I didn't see a single process.
Then I tried it interactively:
* Started apt-get update in one root shell
* Started htop in another one, pressed u, saw the _apt user there,
selected it
Again I saw no processes listed.
The I pressed u again, selected All Users and still -- no processes
shown at all.
Then I started htop -u _apt again, pressed u, selected All Users
and still: No processes shown at all.
I tried the latter as root as well as normal user, inside a screen
session (as root) as well as outside a screen session (as normal user).
I also noticed that when selecting All users in the above cases, the
terminal bell rings (^G).
Conclusion: As soon as the view is reduced to all processes of a user
which starts with an underscore, something is broken in htop.
P.S.: ps auxw | fgrep _apt indeed showed a bunch of processes, so it's
definitely htop, not apt.
