Hi,

(I took the liberty to CC maintainers of other packages involved, please
read my request at the end)

I'm happy to inform you that Remmina 1.2 indeed fixes this bug (and a
couple of other problems).

Backporting it to Stretch was not easy, though:

* Remmina 1.2 needs freerdp2. Backporting freerdp2 was straightforward.

* On the other hand, libssh-dev version from Stretch (0.7) depends on
libssl1.0-dev, which lead to an unsolvable build-dependency problem
since Remmina 1.2 build-depends on libssl-dev, but libssl1.0-dev and
libssl-dev conflict with each other, so 0.8 had to be backported too.

* libssh 0.8 builds under Stretch, but one of the tests failed with
libgcrypt 1.7.6, so 1.7.8 (or later) had to be backported also.

The good news is that backporting those four packages didn't need any
modification.

Once Remmina 1.2 enters Sid and then Buster, I'd be happy to maintain
official backports of those four packages (if their respective
maintainers don't want to), hence the CCs. IMHO this would be a *great*
service to the community, especially since Remmina was plainly removed
from Stretch (see #863302).

on a test I get:

-- Checking for module 'freerdp>=1.2.0'
--   Package 'freerdp>=1.2.0' not found
CMake Error at
/usr/share/cmake-3.4/Modules/FindPackageHandleStandardArgs.cmake:148 (message):
  Could NOT find FREERDP (missing: FREERDP_LIBRARY)

And with -DWITH_FREERDP=OFF makes IMHO no sense.

I understand, but in the current situation, remmina in both stable and
unstable is unusable under Gnome 3 because of this bug, and barely
usable under other desktops (with a workaround I already mentioned,
pressing RCtrl-S twice to make the floating bar appear), that's why I
suggested not to wait for 1.2.0 to be released.

Would at least an upload to experimental be possible ? It would allow
people to easily backport it to unstable and/or stable for their
personal use.

At the moment its only the version 1.2.0-rcgit.8 out. We wait for the
1.2.0.

Just to add some clarity :

The bug was not fixed upstream, but merely closed, because although 1.2
branch is still named "next", 1.1.2 "stable" branch will only receive
"security fixes or critical bugs (i.e.: data corruption)".

For more information, see :

https://github.com/FreeRDP/Remmina/wiki

IMHO it's time for Debian unstable to ship 1.2 branch.
