lol, I understand that it exists in libpurple... but where in the 
"official" aim client (historical or "latest official version") does it 
allow the user to set these as a status? is the protocol totally reverse 
engineered or is there some official publication where it defines these 
mappings?

Just because the status options are available doesn't mean they should 
be shown as options in the client. Do you have any references to that?
